State, Local Officials Across the Country Highlight Value of Business Aviation

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson joined with 20 local officials across the country in recognizing the value of general aviation, including business aviation, in February. To date, hundreds of state and local officials have issued official proclamations highlighting the importance of the industry to their states, regions, cities and towns.

“General aviation and community airports play a critical role in the lives of our citizens, as well as in the operation of our businesses and farms,” noted Hutchinson. “The state of Arkansas has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions, aviation organizations, community airports and airport operators.”

Arkansas is home to 91 public-use airports, which serve 5,048 pilots and 3,053 active general aviation aircraft. General aviation airports in the state have an economic value of more than $494 million annually, according to the proclamation.

“Many communities in Arkansas depend heavily on general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our state,” Hutchinson said.
