For Minnesota Group, No Plane No Gain Pin is a Symbol of Industry Support

Regardless of how one is connected to business aviation, a No Plane No Gain pin is an ideal symbol of support for the industry, said Gordon Hoff, executive director and government liaison for the Minnesota Business Aviation Association (MBAA).

An active association founded in 1955, MBAA is preparing for the annual Aviation Day at the state capital on April 26, and plans to have the popular pins on hand to show support for business aviation.

“We hold the event in cooperation with the 114-member Minnesota Council of Airports and Minnesota Aviation Trade Association, which represents the state’s fixed-base operators,” said Hoff. “The No Plane No Gain pin works for everyone, airport managers, FBOs and business aviators because an airplane is central to each occupation.”

At the request of the state senator who will co-chair the Minnesota’s General Aviation (GA) Caucus, MBAA will have plenty of pins on hand for Aviation Day, added Hoff. “The senator saw my No Plane No Gain pin at the last Aviation Day, and he plans to give one to every member at the initial meeting of the GA caucus,” he said.

MBAA also will have a supply of No Plane No Gain pins at its March 15 meeting, where NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen will be the featured speaker. Wrapping up a membership drive, Hoff said MBAA has an average membership of 500-550 individuals.

“We want the pins for the new members and others that haven’t had access to them at the regional or national NBAA events,” he said.

“It is a great conversation starter,” added MBAA Vice President Dave Ostwald. “When people see it, they ask about it, and we’re able to tell them about the value and contribution of business aviation.”

Bob Quinn, NBAA’s Midwest regional representative, said: ““No Plane No Gain pins are not only very helpful in building advocacy identification, they can be an effective and subtle symbol that unites all of this effort’s participants in a common cause.”
