General aviation, including business aviation, is a vital contributor to the economy in every state, and in September, the governors of Connecticut and Maryland officially recognized the industry for the important role it plays. Every state, in addition to hundreds of communities throughout the United States, have highlighted general aviation over the years for its contributions to the success of companies and citizens around the country.
Connecticut
“Many communities in Connecticut depend heavily on general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, tourists and visitors to our State,” Gov. Dannel Malloy wrote in his proclamation, adding that general aviation plays a vital role in the state’s response to emergencies and natural disasters.
Additionally, Connecticut is home to 23 public-use airports, which serve nearly 4,800 FAA-certified pilots.

Maryland
“The State of Maryland has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations, and community airports and airport operators,” wrote Gov. Larry Hogan.
There are 25 repair stations, 15 FAA-approved flight schools, more than 1,000 flight instructors and more than 2,500 student pilots in Maryland.
