June 27, 2018

Wyoming Gov. Matthew Mead highlighted the importance of the industry to the state by proclaiming June 2018 as General Aviation Appreciation Month.

“Wyoming has seven repair stations, four FAA-approved pilot schools, 453 student pilots and 289 flight instructors,” he wrote. “General aviation and community airports play a critical role in Wyoming. Many communities in Wyoming depend on general aviation and community airports for commerce, health, safety and more.”

According to the Wyoming Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division, Wyoming has 31 public-use general aviation airports, 25 of which are paved.

“General aviation airports contribute over $73 million annually to the community, support 410 jobs and have a payroll of over $14.4 million,” Baker wrote.
