NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee
Jan. 14, 2016
Giving back to the community has for years been one of the highlights of NBAA’s annual Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference (SDC), and this year is no exception.
For SDC2016, set for Jan. 19 to 22 in Tampa, FL, the organizing committee is planning two events in which attendees can help those in need – a clothing drive, which has been done for several years, and new for 2016, a backpack filling event to help hungry area children.
“We partnered with Feeding America Tampa Bay and we’re going to do a two-hour packing event to add a service element to the conference,” said S&D Chair Eve Gregory. “The charitable event at schedulers and dispatchers conference adds another opportunity to network.”
Thousands of Tampa-area children receive bags filled with shelf-stable, nutritious food at school to take home for weekends and school vacations. The bags, containing easy-to-prepare meals and snacks, are provided to eligible children free of charge and are distributed at various schools on a weekly basis during the entire school year.
Feeding America Tampa Bay (FATB) is the largest hunger relief organization in the community, responsible for serving a food-insecure population of more than 700,000 people in a 10-county area.

The S&D Advisory Council’s ‘Pay It Forward’ clothing drive has collected thousands of business clothing items in recent years, including a record 1,452 suits, dresses, shirts and other business attire in 2015.
The group hopes to set another record this year and is asking attendees to bring one or two pieces of clean ready-to-wear clothing items for women or men (suits, skirts, blouses, jackets or slacks) with them to the conference. All donations collected during the conference will be distributed to local charities.
