“The Texas aviation industry is critical to our economy and way of life,” Gov. Greg Abbott wrote in his proclamation. “It brings families together, transports business executives to important meetings, delivers essential cargo, provides life-saving medical evacuation, enables police search and rescue, utility grid and oil pipeline inspections and border protection, and it helps to control pests that can wreak havoc on farmers’ crops.”

With more than 153,000 jobs in the Texas aviation and aerospace industry, Texas is the number one state for air transportation employment, resulting in billions in economic activity.
