The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) will hold a General Aviation Jobs Rally on Friday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Duncan Aviation in Battle Creek, MI. U.S. Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) and leaders from Avfuel Corporation, Duncan Aviation, GAMA, L-3 Communications and Williams International will address attendees and share the importance of general aviation, including business aviation, to Michigan’s economy.

“These jobs rallies put a face on the 1.1 million people employed by general aviation nationwide who are active members of their local communities and contributors to their local economies,” said Mary Lynn J. Rynkiewicz, GAMA’s director of communications.

“They are a great way to share the story of general aviation, including its impact on jobs and the state’s overall economy,” she added.

A recent PricewaterhouseCoopers study, commissioned by GAMA, with support from NBAA and other general aviation groups, indicates general aviation contributes more than 23,000 jobs and more than $4 billion in economic output in the state of Michigan annually.

GAMA says these types of rallies demonstrate the positive impact of general aviation on the state’s economy to members of Congress, the media, students, veterans and the general public. As many as 400 general aviation industry employees and other guests are expected to attend the June 17 event.

GAMA began holding jobs rallies in 2009. The concept was spurred by the challenges the industry faced as a result of the recession. The Battle Creek, MI event will be GAMA’s 15th such rally.
