A dozen mayors and other local officials, representing cities of all sizes across the country, recognized February as General Aviation Appreciation Month because of the value the industry and local airports have on their towns and regions.
They join hundreds of officials from all 50 states, and the majority of governors, who have issued similar proclamations about the impact general aviation, including business aviation, has on their local economies, as well as its use in humanitarian and public safety efforts.
Proclamations this month came from mayors from Massachusetts to Colorado, and from capital cities such as Trenton, NJ, to resort towns, such as Ocean City, MD.
Most of the proclamations noted, “The nation’s aviation infrastructure represents an important public benefit, and congressional oversight should be in place of this system to ensure that it remains a public system and serves communities of all sizes.”
